BEHIND THE INK

MARTIN KELLNER

Growing up, I always felt a little different, intoxicated by the world and the nature around me. This fascination was not something I could switch off to fit in and it only grew stronger. At the time, I couldn’t explain it, it seemed to be hard-wired into my DNA.

The catalysts for my daydreams are everywhere. The way light shifts throughout the day and the tranquillity of nature is simply mesmerising. While the colours, patterns and shapes draw me in, it is the macro detail, the hidden intricacy of things, where the real magic lives. I have always felt the need to look closer, to notice more and to sit with something until I truly see it. It is in this stillness that the world reveals its secrets, obscured by the noise of movement.

Now, having discovered I am a descendant of J.M.W. Turner, a man consumed by light, atmosphere and detail, who saw the world not as it was but as it felt, everything that once confused me, suddenly makes perfect sense!

Anyhow, enough of the serious stuff, take a look at my gallery and let me know what you think.
